Confirming previous rumors, Access Hollywood is reporting that Derek will take time off DWTS to make a movie!Derek stars with Korean singer BoA (pictured) for 'Cobu 3D' - about two dancers embroiled in a “Romeo & Juliet”-esque romance set in a world of two rival dance clubs.
“DWTS executive producer Conrad Green said “We wish Derek the best as he takes time off from ‘Dancing With the Stars’ to pursue his film career and look forward to having him return to the show in the Fall."
It'll certainly feel different without him!

ReplyDeleteHe is refreshing in that he seems professional at all times. We never saw him getting into it with his partners. So nice to see someone so young handle fame so well!
ReplyDeleteWill miss him, but not like there are not other great dancers to watch. Boo to those who won't watch because he is not on there. Bet they do sneak a peek. They will miss out.

ReplyDeleteI am not pleased that Derek will be gone this season. It won't be the same without him, he is the main reason we watch! His choreography and smoothness is always fabulous and he always seems to get so much out of his partners. We were avid fans of the show but I doubt we'll be so dedicated this season. : (

ReplyDeleteI'm watching regardless - I just hope the playing field is even. It would be nice if the celebrities didn't have any dancing experience and we the fans would see the improvement of that celebrity which would make him or her a true winner.

ReplyDeleteditto about making the playing field even. Derek always got good dancers. How about giving him someone with no experience when he returns. None of the celebrities should have dance experience - that makes it a real contest!

ReplyDeleteNot great news! And if the rumor Christine O'Donnell has started saying she's been invited to join the cast is true, and she actually winds up on the show, then for the first time since the show's inception, I for one, will not be watching. THIS ALL SUCKS!

ReplyDeleteHe is the most talented dancer and partner I have ever seen. I catch myself rewinding it and watching him over and over. His moves are so fluid. I think he is a born teacher. His dances are never lackluster. I am proud of him for stepping outside his box but my entire family will be praying he comes back.
