Which Professional Dancers are in Season 11 of Dancing with the Stars?

We'll find out which celebrities are appearing in the new season on Monday evening during The Bachelor Pad.  But we won't find out the pairings until Wednesday morning on Good Morning America (according to a Facebook post by Louis van Amstel)!

I've put together a list of the probable professional dancers.  A lot (but not all!) of the information comes from Pure DWTS.  I recommend checking them out!

Here's a list of the professionals that are probably in:

MEN
  • Derek Hough - tweeted "The season is abt 2 begin , hope everyone is excited .. High five", plus there would be riots if he wasn't in!
  • Mark Ballas - tweeted "Just got some pretty cool news.. ;)"
  • Tony Dovolani - he's flying into LA and tweeted "One more day home then ............"
  • Louis van Amstel - also flying into LA and posted that the professionals would be officially announced on Wednesday
  • Maksim Chmerkovskiy - tweeted "I got waaaays to go before I'm at my 'peak' and 3 weeks 'till I have to get there ;)"
WOMEN
  • Lacey Schwimmer - just went out and told everyone on Twitter
  • Cheryl Burke - is getting exciting news today (Friday)
The professionals that are definitely not appearing are Dmitry Chaplin, Jonathan Roberts, Damian Whitewood, Anna Demidova, Ashley Costa and Julianne Hough.

Who's left?

Well, on the men's side the only one of the "regulars" left is Alec Mazo.  Alec doesn't give much away!  I also think that if someone like Florence Henderson is appearing they may pair them with Corky Ballas, as they did with Cloris Leachman.

One the women's side there are five "regulars" left - Kym Johnson, Karina Smirnoff, Edyta Sliwinska, Chelsie Hightower and Anna Trebuskaya.  Assuming there are six male and six female celebrities that would imply one is not appearing.

Get Your Dancing with the Stars Videos Here!

I mentioned a couple of months ago that I had set up a DWTS video site.

Well, it now has over 2,500 videos of DWTS shows, dancers and celebrities!

I've set up a channel for each of the celebrities for the upcoming season.  I'm just filling them up with what's out there at the moment, but once the season starts we should have some great dancing videos!

The main site is DWTS Videos and the channels for each of the celebrities in season 10 are:

Evan Lysacek
Nicole Scherzinger
Erin Andrews
Chad Ochocinco
Pamela Anderson
Jake Pavelka
Kate Gosselin
Shannen Doherty
Aiden Turner
Niecy Nash
Buzz Aldrin

A lot of the videos are found automatically but I do cast my eye over them all.  Unfortunately some inappropriate ones do slip through!  If you do find any like that, please let me know, or report them.

Let me know what you think, and don't be afraid to add any videos you may find!

Could Ashly DelGrosso Be On Dancing with the Stars 10?

This really is a question, not a statement.

We're waiting for the final professional on Dancing with the Stars season 10 to be announced/leaked/come out of the woodwork and I noticed that Ashly's name had been mentioned in a couple of places.

On the DWTS 10 page in Wikipedia someone said that E! News had said she was coming back, and I got a couple of hits on my website with the keyword "ashly delgrosso dwts 10".

Ashly appeared in the first three seasons, with Joey McIntire, Master P and Harry Hamlin.

This is absolute conjecture, the sources are not one might term "iron clad", but I wondered if anyone else had heard anything?

Season 10 DWTS Professionals - The Chinese Water Torture of Reality TV

(Updated to add Maks)

Pity the poor dancing pros who await to find out if they are in season 10 of Dancing with the Stars. It's a big deal to their career and pocket, plus they get constantly nagged and reminded on Twitter that they haven't confirmed yet.

Shed a tear, and then remember it's a job and it comes with the territory.

For unknown reasons (possibly because the celebrities haven't signed their contracts yet) the professionals have been told in dribs and drabs whether they are appearing. Cheryl Burke confirmed first, and the others just seem to be waiting for a call, running to Twitter after they put the phone down.

Here are the professionals that are (almost certainly) definite:

- Cheryl Burke
- Chelsie Hightower
- Edyta Slwinska
- Derek Hough
- Mark Ballas
- Tony Dovolani
- Louis van Amstel
- Maksim Chmerkovskiy

Chelsie and Louis actually tweeted they were on, and then deleted the tweets!

Assuming there are 11 couples, there are four more to go.

Also, keep your eye on Damian Whitewood from Burn The Floor. His girlfriend posted on Facebook that he would be appearing. Source: Pure DWTS

Most importantly, shed a real tear for Lacey Schwimmer and Jonathan Roberts who will not be appearing. It's a shame, but going from 16 couples to 11 means someone will be disappointed. I know that Lacey's fans, in particular, are not happy!

I keep this page updated with the latest news on which professionals are in.

Old favorite in, new favorite out at Dancing with the Stars

As reported by Pure DWTS , Cheryl Burke is in season 10 of Dancing with the Stars, and Lacey Schwimmer won't be.

They both tweeted the outcomes on Friday.

Perhaps Lacey doesn't have a suitable partner, who knows? She made a big impression when she first appeared and quickly built up a fan base. Those fans are not going to be happy!

I'm glad Cheryl is returning. A regular since season two, it wouldn't be the same without her!

I'm sure there'll be more news soon! Stay tuned!

Dancing Pros Starting to Get Restless

Not knowing who is appearing in the new season of Dancing with the Stars is hard on the fans, but even harder on the professionals!

Louis van Amstel tweeted at the end of last month that they would know if they were in the next season of the show by mid-February. Then, on Monday of this week he tweeted they would know tomorrow (Tuesday).

On Tuesday and Friday Dmitry Chaplin tweeted that he hadn't heard anything.

Today, Karina Smirnoff tweeted:
"It's Friday and still no word from production about the next season! And we are supposed to meet our celebs in 7 days! Wow"
Now Karina had already told a Miami newspaper that she was appearing in season 10, but obviously she has had no official word. And that is probably true for the others.

The only other pro to (sort of) confirm he is in season 10 is Derek Hough, who also tweeted that they would learn their partners next week.

So what does this mean? Probably that the celebrities haven't been finalized, and the producers have always said that they choose the professionals on the basis of who the celebrities are (makes sense). No time has been lost in that the pros can't really do anything until they are confirmed and know who they are dancing with. It does make the waiting harder for them though.

This has been a pretty quiet season in terms of rumors. Let's hope it heats up next week!

Who's the tallest female professional dancer on Dancing with the Stars?

I admit to being intrigued by the thought of Conan O'Brien on Dancing with the Stars.  I don't for a second think he will compete, but it would be a sight to behold!

He is not only 6'4", but a gangly 6'4" reminiscent of Mike Teavee - the boy who was stretched to twice his own height in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory after shrinking himself in the chocolate television room.

But I digress.

I started to think who could be Conan's partner.  They would need to be tall (and very, very patient) so I thought I'd research the heights of the female professionals on the show.  Here's what I found:

Anna Demidova 5'10"
Edyta Sliwinska 5'6"
Kym Johnson 5'6"
Karina Smirnoff 5'5"
Cheryl Burke 5'4"
Julianne Hough 5'4"
Anna Trebunskaya 5'4"
Elena Grinenko  5'4"
Inna Brayer 5'4"
Lacey Schwimmer 5'3"
Chelsie Hightower 5'3"
Ashly DelGrosso 5'3"

(Chelsie is actually 5'2.5" but I rounded up!)

I was surprised that 2/3 of them are 5'4" or 5'3".  I don't know the distribution of female heights of the population in general, but this seems very clustered.  Perhaps dancers need a certain body type and a specific height is a key factor - something to do with center of gravity?

I was also surprised that Lacey was 5'3", I'd always imagined her as six foot!!

There have been a number of tall contestants in the past - Jerry Rive, Clive Drexler, Master P, Penn Jillette and others - and the ladies always seemed to cope very well, so maybe it's not an issue.  A sturdy pair of extra high heels is the answer, or has Anna Demidova got a job for life as long as there are tall celebrities?
